Why Not make it Jewelry?
The saying is that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. The truth of the matter is that jewelry is almost always a good idea. Almost everyone loves the glitter of a piece of jewelry so you usually can’t go wrong in purchasing jewelry for that special someone on your list. It doesn’t matter the occasion. There is a piece of jewelry that is going to be perfect for it no matter what the reason or the person. People even purchase jewelry for babies these days. You see ear rings becoming more popular with the folks that have children in this day and age.
So how is it, you might find yourself asking, that it used to be designer diaper bags were a good upper end gift for the parents of a young child and baby clothes and cute baby clothes used to be good for most kids. Now the public is out spending money on expensive ear rings for the children. How on earth did that happen and why is it?
Well for one thing, jewelry will last a lot longer than the baby clothes that people traditionally bought. The truth of the matter is that the small ear rings that you might purchase for a young girl today in lieu of the cute baby clothes might end up being something that the child wears and keeps with them their entire life. That is not usually something that happens with clothing or even the expensive designer diaper bags.
So when you put that into perspective, giving a nice piece of jewelry for a child is not such an outrageous idea. In fact if you are a relative or close friend of the family, it even makes more sense than a lot of other traditional options out there. Plus when you add to that the fact that the parents will know that you put some thought into the purchase rather than just grabbing something off the shelf at the local super center, the gift will mean a lot more to them as well and can deepen a bond between all of you very easily.
Certainly is does not make a good idea to buy small things or chains that can easily choke the child. But you also want to be cautious about being certain that the child is not allergic to certain metals. Another obvious thing to shy away from unless you are well to do is the temptation to purchase large diamonds for the child. I have seen them on babies and they look horrendous.
So in the right context and in moderation, a gift of fine jewelry not only is acceptable but it may actually be the smartest choice that you can make for the baby and its parents. You will perhaps spend a little more but it will last a long time and you will make a good and lasting impression on the family. Of course you may want to reconsider that if there is a rash of babies from relatives and people that you know in a short time span because it can get expensive.
